CHRISTIAN ASSEMBLY, formerly the Presbyterian Church, at 501 Washington Street on the corner of Thomas Street, has a long and diverse history. The church building has served as a church, meeting hall and a temporary movie theater. The building was completed in 1844. In the early days, a large dome atop the structure served as a beacon for
approaching steamboats. The church bell, now located on the Weston Historical Museum property, announced their arrival to residents. In 1934 it was sold to the Christian Assembly Church and in the 1990s the building was remodeled to more modern standards.
