Winter Schedule
Closed mid December - mid March
Museum may be opened by special request for  
tour groups and research.
During the winter months museum cases are
changed and deep cleaned for preservation. It is
also a time to catalogue and file artifacts.
Volunteers fill an important need in that effort.

and Antebellum homes.

From rare Native American moccasins to early physician
instruments to vintage clothing displays
; the Weston Historical
Museum has preserved local artifacts to enjoy today. Discover what
life was like in Platte County from prehistoric days through World
War II. Favorite exhibits include Civil War relics, a newspaper office,
household items, tools, glassware, china, furniture, historic
documents and everyday objects from the area's past. The
'Nostalgia Store' in the museum features a variety of historical
books, games, postcards and note cards

The Museum was founded in 1960 by private donations from local
townspeople and descendants of those who first settled the town.  
Weston's location, close to Ft. Leavenworth and Kansas City,
means the museum enjoys visitors, compliments and support from
people around the world. Historians can find an abundance of
clippings, files and pictures for their research.

Popular Mini-Tours for groups of 15 or more are available with
advance reservations. For further information about the museum

Also, make plans to attend one of the enchanting
Cemetery Strolls
Into The Past where re-enactors portray lives from Weston's past,
including descendants of Daniel Boone, Robert E. Lee, Ben
Holladay and early Weston slaves. The next stroll is scheduled for
April 2
5, 2009, at the Laurel Hill Cemetery which was established in
1840.
The Historic town of Weston has many

The Weston Historical Museum gratefully acknowledges the
Native Sons and Daughters of Greater Kansas City
for their funding of the restoration and preservation of the rare artifact:
Mitchell's National Map of the American Republic, 1843.

Since 1931, the Native Sons and Daughters of Greater Kansas City has
been on the forefront of historic advocacy and preservation in the
Greater Kansas City, Missouri, area.   

The map will be on display in the museum after June 8, 2008.  
It was donated by Harold McAdow, a long time resident of Weston.
The Cemetery Stroll was a great success!  Thank you to all who
participated.
